Front Row Centre Players announces auditions for their third show of their 20th Anniversary 2008/2009 season!

GREASE

Where:
The Community Arts Centre at the Currie Barracks
(2633 Hochwald Ave S.W.) in the FRC Studio

When:
Tuesday January 27, 2009, 7-10pm
Wednesday January 28, 2009, 7-10pm
Saturday January 31, 2009, 1-5pm
Tuesday February 3, 2009, 7-10pm
Wednesday February 4, 2009, 7-10pm
Callbacks will be Saturday February 7th

Audition Requirements:

1) A one-minute monologue appropriate for the show.

2) A musical theatre song appropriate for the show, but not from the show (an accompanist and/or CD player will be provided).

3) Come dressed to dance.

4) Due to the content of the show, 18+ please.

PLEASE NOTE
You must stay after your individual audition slot for a group dance audition. I.e., if you have a 7:00 slot you will also have the 8:04 slot for your dance audition.

About the show:

Rydell High’s class of 1959 will take you through “Summer Nights” in their very own “Greased Lightning”. Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski will resolve the problems of their mutual attraction against a backdrop of pajama parties, proms, burger palaces and drive-in movies.

Show Run Dates:
May 22 to June 6, 2009 on the Victor Mitchell Stage at the Pumphouse Theatre.
Evening Shows: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat at 7:30pm
Matinee Shows: Sat and Sun at 2:00pm

Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals are planned for Saturdays 1-5pm, Tuesdays 7-10pm, Wednesday 7-10pm commencing in February, with Fridays 7-10 to be added in May.

PLEASE NOTE: Front Row Centre Players is a community theatre presenting three major musicals each year. All participants in the process of putting together our shows are volunteers, from actors to directorial team to stage hands to the FRC Board. Cast are expected to be able to help, as needed, with such aspects as move-in, strike, etc.

Frenchie (Soprano, dance, 18) One of the Pink Ladies; good-natured, dreams
of becoming a beautician. A character voice.

Jan (Mezzo, dance, 18) One of the Pink Ladies; compulsive eater, good
natured

Marty Maraschino (Alto, dance, late-teens) One of the Pink Ladies; beautiful
and obsessed with her "look" and accessories

Roger (High Tenor, dance, late teens) One of the T-Birds; goofy "King of the
mooners", loves Jan

Audition Requirements:

1) If you are auditioning for a Lead Role, please prepare one song from the show (or optionally one song of similar style). An accompanist will be provided, but keep in mind that any sheet music provided must be easily sight-read. Bringing a music track on CD or Tape is recommended (A CD/cassette player will be provided).

2) If you are not auditioning for a lead, please prepare a musical theatre song of your choice (not longer than 3 minutes).

3) You may be asked to cold read and/or do a movement audition so wear comfortable clothing and footwear that you can move in.

The touching story of Tevye and his daughters as they struggle with tradition in the face of anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia. Hum along to “Sunrise Sunset” and “If I Were a Rich Man” as we cut across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion.

Front Row Centre Players are celebrating 20 years as
Calgary’s Premier Community Musical Theatre Company

In 1987, the St. Giles Presbyterian Church Choir in Calgary presented a version of "Godspell". The success of this production inspired the performers to create a new musical theatre company.

Thus, Front Row Centre Players Society was born.

Twenty seasons and forty-five productions later, for our 2008-2009 season we’d like to take you back to where it all began…
