Audition Location

Auditions are held at Beddington Theatre Arts Centre, 375 Bermuda Dr NW.

Audition Requirements

Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity's Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.

Please prepare 2 contrasting musical theatre songs, one demonstrating character.
A piano will be provided, but no accompanist, so please bring accompaniment on backing track (CD or iPod/iPhone/MP3 player) or bring your own accompanist. No a cappella.

Please bring a headshot and resume with you to your audition.

We are looking for a reed player and trombonist to be a part of our cast on stage. Other instruments will be auditioned at a later date, but the musicians we are looking for now will be playing while being a part of the action on the stage!
Musicians please prepare one piece to stand and play.

All auditioners will need to stay for a choreography audition.

About the Show

Welcome to Urinetown. Not the place of course, the musical. Urinetown the place is sort of a mythical place, a bad place – let’s just say it’s full of symbolism and things like that.

It’s a privilege to pee: water’s worth its weight in gold these days
No more bathrooms like in olden days, you come here and pay a fee.

This satirical comedy features a city of the future afflicted by a terrible drought where public amenity tycoon Caldwell B. Cladwell has made his fortune by bribery, monopolization, and the implementation of a brutal police force maintaining the laws against private toilets and public urination. Bolstered by the love of a woman, Bobby Strong will stand up and say enough is enough! But things may be more complicated than he thinks – the woman he loves is none other than the daughter of the very tycoon he is trying to overthrow.

No anger or badness, just laughter and gladness, if only you follow your heart!

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will start Saturday September 20th:
- Mondays & Wednesdays from 6-9pm
- Saturdays 2-6pm

There will be no rehearsal on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve but otherwise we will not have an extended break during this time.

If this rehearsal schedule is a challenge for you, please inform us.

PLEASE NOTE: For the week prior to opening (i.e. beginning Sunday January 4th), please expect a rehearsal or other activity on each day.
